Scientific research is at the heart of the mission of the French National Institute for Art History (INHA).

Research at the INHA is organized around eight fields : four period-based fields complemented by four thematic fields.

The results of the conducted research are presented at meetings and lead to various publications, exhibitions, or databases and digital tools.

The research programs are conducted in partnership with French or foreign institutions, whether academic or museal.

They facilitate the meeting of art historians from diverse backgrounds and the implementation of ambitious programs.
