Appel à candidature

La Fondation Marc de Montalembert et l’Institut national d’histoire de l’art se sont associés pour l’attribution du Prix Marc de Montalembert d’un montant de 9 000 euros. Ce prix soutient l’achèvement d’un travail de recherche qui promet un apport original à la connaissance des arts et de la culture du monde méditerranéen. La Fondation Marc de Montalembert offre en outre au lauréat la possibilité de séjourner à son siège à Rhodes, en Grèce.

Conditions d’éligibilité

Les candidat(e)s doivent :

• être né(e)s dans un pays riverain de la Méditerranée, ou en avoir la nationalité
• avoir moins de 35 ans au 30 novembre 2018
• être titulaires d’un doctorat.

Le lauréat devra soumettre les pièces justificatives avant que ne lui soit confirmée l’attribution du prix.

Évaluation des candidatures

Les candidats seront évalués sur leur curriculum vitae et sur leur projet, son originalité et son intérêt, sa faisabilité et sa pertinence pour ce qui concerne le monde méditerranéen. La présentation du projet, rédigée en français de préférence ou en anglais, doit comprendre un calendrier de travail, un lien explicite avec un des domaines de recherche de l’INHA, une prévision des frais nécessaires à sa réalisation et une indication des résultats attendus et des perspectives de leur diffusion.
La présentation sera accompagnée d’une lettre de motivation manuscrite rédigée en français et de deux lettres de recommandation signées par des professionnels de la recherche en mesure d’attester le sérieux du candidat et la qualité de son projet. Ne seront pris en compte que les projets individuels.

Mise en œuvre et finalisation du projet

La mise en œuvre du projet, d’une durée maximale d’un an, commencera par un séjour d’un mois à Paris, en tant que chercheur accueilli à l’INHA ; elle s’achèvera par un deuxième séjour à Paris durant lequel les résultats feront l’objet d’une présentation publique. Les deux séjours sont pris en charge respectivement, par la Fondation Marc de Montalembert et par l’INHA (1000 euros par séjour). Le lauréat bénéficiera de l’appui d’un conseiller scientifique de l’INHA avec lequel un contact régulier sera maintenu. Le lauréat s’engage à présenter les résultats de ses recherches sous la forme d’un article susceptible d’être publié. Les résultats de la recherche seront publiés et diffusés sous une forme appropriée, avec le concours de l’INHA.

- Réception des candidatures : à partir du 1er octobre 2018 jusqu’au 30 novembre 2018, soit directement
en ligne sur le site de l’INHA, soit par voie postale.

- Date limite de dépôt des candidatures : 30 novembre 2018 en ligne ou par voie postale, le cachet de la poste faisant foi.

- Annonce du Prix : seconde quinzaine de janvier 2019.

Le dossier doit comprendre : un curriculum vitae, une lettre de motivation manuscrite en français, le projet rédigé en français ou en anglais, l’identification du lien avec un domaine de l’INHA, le calendrier de travail et le budget prévisionnel (les frais de recherche et de subsistance sont admissibles mais non les frais de publication), le résultat attendu, et au moins deux lettres de recommandation.

THE MARC DE MONTALEMBERT  PRIZE

The Marc de Montalembert Foundation and the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA) have formed a partnership to sponsor the Marc de Montalembert Prize of 9,000 euros. The grant will be awarded to support a research project whose results constitute an original contribution to the knowledge of the arts of the Mediterranean world. The Foundation will also offer the grant holder the possibility of a residency at its headquarters in Rhodes, Greece.

To be eligible the candidate must:

• be born in a country bordering the Mediterranean or be a citizen of that country;
• be under 35 years of age on November 30, 2018;
• hold a PhD degree (doctorate).
• The recipient will have to provide documentation substantiating his/her eligibility before confirmation of the nomination.

Evaluation of candidates

In evaluating the candidates the jury will consider their curriculum vitae, their project’s originality and importance, feasibility, and relevance to the Mediterranean world. Project presentations should be written preferably in French, though those in English will be also considered. They must include a work schedule, an explicit description of how the project relates to one of the Institute’s specific programs of study, an estimate of expenses, and a presentation of anticipated results and possibilities for publication. The research proposal must be accompanied by a hand-written letter of intent in French and two letters of recommendation by qualified research professionals capable of certifying the dependability of the candidate as well as the quality of the research project.

Only individual projects will be considered.

Implementation of the grant

The project will be carried out during the maximum duration of year. It will begin with a month in Paris as a visiting scholar of the INHA, and, upon completion of the project, a second stay in Paris will take place during which the results of the grant holder’s work will be presented publicly. The cost of both trips and living expenses will be respectively covered by the Foundation and the INHA with a flat-rate contribution of 1000 euros per stay. The grant holder will receive scientific advinsing from a member of the INHA’s academic staff, with whom s/he will be in regular contact for the duration of the project. The winner of the grant commits to presenting an article at the end of the project which describes the achievements for possible publication. The result of his/her work will be published in an appropriate form with the help of the Institute.

Schedule

- Applications will be accepted from October 1, 2018 to November 30, 2018, either directly online via the INHA’s website or through postal mail.

- Application deadline: November 30, 2018 by mail (postmarked by the date).

- The Prize winner will be announced in the second half of January 2019.
